how come Band-Aids are packaged in groups? you cut your finger, so you try to pull one out with your good hand, and you can never get just one. then the whole box spills over. always. i don’t get it.

Pretending.

Sometimes I like to pretend I’m on a beach. I can feel the warm breeze hug my face and throw my hair back. I can hear the mist splashing off the rocks by the pier. I can smell the water, the sunscreen, and the picnics. I can hear the giggles as toes inch into the cool waves. I can feel the hot sand between my fingers and see the sun from behind my closed eyelids. I can pretend that I’m surrounded by palm trees, friends, and plush lounge chairs. I can pretend.

But, yet, this is only pretending.
